Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and of Dentistry from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC). Besides, Arano completed the Postgraduate in Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation at the New York University, College of Dentistry; and the Master’s Degree in Implantology and Prosthodontics of the International College of Oral Implantologist (ICOI). In terms of teaching, Dr. Arano began his work as a distinguished visitor to the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina). Subsequently, he has been professor of the Master’s Degree in Implantology (Prosthetics area) and of the Master’s Degree in Prosthesis and ATM at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) (clinical coordinator 2000 – 2003), of the Master’s Degree in Clinic Practice and Implantology – Oral Prosthesis of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) (2005 – 2016), of the Postgraduate of Prosthesis of the Catalan Society of Paediatric Dentistry (2009 – 2016) and professor of the Continuing Education Program of the Spanish Society of Stomatological Prosthesis (SEPES, 2009 – 2010). José María Arano has been a founding executive member of the International Academy of Implantology and Periodontics (AIIP) – of which he was international president from 2001 to 2005, and president for Spain in 2006 -, he is executive national president for Spain of the International Academy of Integral Dentistry (AIOI) from 2002 – global vice-president from 2011 to 2014 – and is a member of various academies and scientific societies, such as the Venezuelan Academy of Oseointegration and Oral Implantology, the Italian Academy of Implantoprosthetic Stomatology (AISI), the Spanish Society of Implants (SEI), the Spanish Society of Stomatological Prosthesis (SEPES) or the Spanish Society of Periodontics (SEPA). Author of several monographs, articles and clinical communications in different congresses, Dr. Arano runs a private practice in the two Arano Clinic centres located in Barcelona and Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain).
