3D bone regeneration: Step-by-step fundamentals, indications and surgical techniques. Treatment of failures and implantological complications in the aesthetic area

The implantological treatment of the aesthetic area has cosmetic objectives as well as objectives related to health and function. Cosmetic objectives imply a harmonious result in terms of soft tissues of implantological restorations and their mimicry with natural contralateral teeth. For an aesthetic result of soft tissues the state of the peri-implant bone, in terms of shape and volume, must be optimal. Due to the destruction caused by trauma, odontogenic or peri-implant infections, sometimes bone availability is not enough to obtain a good aesthetic result. For the treatment of these types of cases, there are Three-Dimensional Bone Regeneration techniques that predictably allow complete bone reconstruction of the bone crest. However, for the final result to be optimal, these surgical procedures must be complemented with periodontal plastic surgery techniques. These same techniques can be extrapolated to the treatment of biological, mechanical and aesthetic failure of implant-supported restorations in the upper anterior region.
